The series is organized by Amie Paxton and SMB founder Bryan Person; it brings together social media experts and newbies alike for a morning of eating, meeting, sharing, and learning. Marketers, PR pros, entrepreneurs, bloggers, videobloggers, podcasters, students, new-media enthusiasts, Twitterers, community managers, recruiters, and online social networkers are all welcome.

Niche networks: the plastics of the future
Advertisers haven't flocked to the big social networks as quickly, or with as many dollars. That led eMarketer to lower its ad-spend forecast and proclaim "the dollars don¹t equal the hype in social network ad spending."
Why? Because the big social networks are the Life Magazine of this decade. They're too many things to too many people. They're big and unwieldy. The bigger they become, the longer it takes them to respond to what users want simply because of their scale. The bigger they become, the more pressure
they face to monetize everything, which is why unfortunate things like Facebook Beacon happen.
That's why niche social networks are the future. Networks tightly focused around a brand, product or belief system may not become big-money machines, but advertisers will probably like them a lot better for their tightly knit audiences. And brands will like them because they are the tools that will
help connect better with their customer evangelists.
